U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer John Warren Griffin Jr., 37, of the 3900 block of Terrywood Drive, died April 2, 1996, at a local hospital.
Chief Griffin was born in New Jersey. He was stationed with the Fleet Technical Support Center, Atlantic. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Jean Zargo Griffin; daughter, Jessica Rene Griffin; father, John W. Griffin Sr. of Ft. Myers, Fla.; mother, Mildred Messanger Dunlevy and stepfather, Casey Dunlevy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Pamela Jeanne Keller of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and maternal grandmother, Laura Messanger of New Jersey.
A memorial service will be conducted today at 2 p.m in the David Adams Memorial Chapel NOB. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, with full military honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the funeral home.
