LIDA BROWN

Lida Brown, 97, of the 900 block of Princess Anne Road, died March 29, 1996, in a local hospital.

She was born in Hyde County, N.C., and was a housewife. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by two daughters, Leta Benjamin of Norfolk, Grace Bell Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Jodie ``Joe'' Brown, and George Brown, both of Norfolk, Robert Brown of Camden, N.J.; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, William Smith of Camden; a daughter-in-law, Martha Brown of Camden; Jeanette Black and Joe Black, both of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Alice and John Selby; a sister, Clotee Lewis; a brother, David Brown.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. I. Joseph Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Shady Cemetery in Newport News.
