EASTER TOURNAMENT FEATURES 7 TEAMS THE THREE-DAY SHOWDOWN GETS UNDER WAY AT 1 P.M. MONDAY WITH THE FIRST OF THREE GAMES THAT DAY.

THE ANNUAL Easter Baseball Tournament, which features seven area high school baseball teams in a three-day showdown, will feature a well-balanced field this year.

The tournament will get underway at 1 p.m. Monday, when Perquimans County will face Hertford County in the first of three opening day games.

Other opening day action will include a face-off between Manteo and Currituck County, two Northeastern Conference rivals, at 3:30 p.m., and a battle between neighboring Camden County and Northeastern at 6 p.m.

Host Edenton-Holmes has a first-round bye.

On Tuesday, the winners of the Perquimans-Hertford County and Currituck-Manteo games will play at 3:30 p.m.

The losers of those games will play at 1 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Aces will make their debut in the tournament against the winner of the Camden-Northeastern game.

On Wednesday, the fifth place game will be at 1 p.m.

The third place game will be played at 3 p.m.

The tournament championship will start at 6 p.m.

``This tournament has been real good for the area,'' said Edenton head coach Robert Woodley.

``Originally it started with just us, Currituck, Perquimans and Northeastern. Then Northeastern dropped out and we picked up Camden and it's grown since then.

``We've gone from four to six to eight teams. This year we only have seven because we couldn't get an eighth team.''

Admission to the tournament is $3 per person per day. by CNB
