JOHN R. CHANDLER

John Roland Chandler, 75, died April 6, 1996, at Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Chandler, a son of the late V.A. Chandler Sr. and Edith Hogg Chandler, was the retired president of V.A. Chandler and Sons Insurance. He was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, and former chairman of the board and treasurer. Mr. Chandler was founding board member of the Hermitage of the Eastern Shore, former board member of the United Methodist Homes of Virginia, former treasurer of Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club. He had many years of active service with Onancock Lions Club, Chesapeake Lodge (NU)158 AF & AM. He was a graduate of V.P.I. and first president of Eastern Shore Anchor Club. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Hundley Chandler; two sons, John R. Chandler Jr. of Onancock and Walter H. Chandler of Onley; a brother, William H. Chandler of Onancock; two sisters-in-law, Cora M. Chandler of Onancock and Mary H. Hyatt of St. Michael's, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren, John R. Chandler III, Lyndsay Chandler, Amanda Chandler, and Seth Chandler.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Market Street Methodist Church by the Rev. Don Wilson. Interment will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Market Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 75, Onancock, Va., 23417, or to the health organization of choice. Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, is in charge.
