Nora Thomas Ambs, 77, of 902 Delaware Ave., died Friday April 5, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Chauncey E. Ambs. She was a member of Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda J. Day of Virginia Beach; two sons, Thomas L. Ambs of Gainesville, Fla., and Robert E. Ambs of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Tony Thomas and Leo Thomas, both of Virginia Beach, and Paul Thomas of Holiday, Fla.; two sisters, Annie Webb of Norfolk and Martha Bland of Stafford, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1404 Pacific Ave., Tuesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery on April 18 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends in Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, Monday, April 8, from 7 until 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk 23513.
