CRIME LINE

Police are asking for people's help in solving these cases:

NORFOLK

On March 23, the Holiday Food store at 8338 Tidewater Drive was robbed.

Just before 9 a.m., two men approached the cashier. One offered to pay for a bottle of beer. The other produced a handgun and demanded money.

Both men were black, about 30 years old and 6 feet 1 inch tall, according to police reports.

The first was described as weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a stocking cap, light-gray hooded sweatshirt, and sneakers.

The second man was described as having a large build and wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, dark jacket and dark stocking cap. He carried a silver handgun.

VIRGINIA BEACH

The Pizza Hut restaurant on Lynnhaven Parkway in the Parkway Shopping Center was robbed Dec. 18 about 9 p.m.

Two days later, about 8 p.m., the same man is believed to be responsible for the robbery of the Twin-B Auto Parts store on Holland Road at Governors Way.

The man is described as black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 and 170 pounds, with short black hair and a thin mustache.

He wore a light brown leather jacket and dark pants.

PORTSMOUTH

On March 21 at 1:30 p.m., police were called to 1621 Chestnut St. in response to a shooting. When the first unit arrived, they found Argolis Nathan Ford, 25, on the steps of a church at the corner of Chestnut and Randolph.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have very little information, and would like to talk with the woman who called 911 from a pay phone.

SUFFOLK

The area near East Washington, Pinner and Bank streets had five robberies on March 22 and 23.

Most of the victims were older men and women.

The suspects are described as black males, 17 to 20 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 145 pounds, with dark complexions. They wore hats and showed a small handgun.

HAMPTON

The Golden Corral at 1123 W. Mercury Blvd. was robbed March 24.

Around 9:40 p.m., a man approached a clerk and asked for change for a dollar bill.

When the clerk opened the register, the man reached across and grabbed the money.

As he fled, he threatened to kill the clerk.

He is described as black, in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds.

He wore black pants and a dark coat with a Chicago White Sox logo. by CNB
