Elizabeth ``Betty'' Bane Giltz, died peacefully, life completed, Dec. 24, 1996 in Logan.
Betty was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Timmonsville, S.C. She married Maurice L. Giltz on Aug. 25, 1945, he preceded her in death in 1984. Betty grew up in Oceana, Va., and graduated from Oceana High School. After marriage she and Maurice lived in Columbus, Ohio, for 34 years where they both worked at Ohio State University. They retired to Florida in 1983. She moved to Utah in 1993 to live with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Revs. Barbara G. and John P. McGarey, and two grandchildren, John M. and Martha E. ``Betsy'' McGarey of Logan; sisters, Dorothy B. Schaafsma, husband, Frank of Sebring, Fla., Kathryn B. Cayce, husband, Edgar of Virginia Beach; and sisters-in-law, Eugenia H. Bane of Tuscallosa, Ala., and Marie Giltz of Massillion, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her brother, Marion. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved. Betty treasured her family and many friends who were always in her thoughts and prayers and she always considered Virginia to be her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach with the Rev. Scottie Griffin officiating. Cranney Mortuary, Logan, is in charge of the arrangements.
