ARTRAIN PULLS INTO NORFOLK

ILLUSTRATION: VICKI CRONIS photos, The Virginian-Pilot

Artrain, ``America's Museum in Motion,'' has arrived in Norfolk for

a four-day stop. It will be open to the public without charge on

Thursday and Friday from noon until 7 p.m., and on Saturday and

Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The train will be at the Norfolk

Southern station, 2200 Redgate Ave., in West Ghent. The exhibition,

``Art in Celebration,'' includes 34 works commissioned by

Smithsonian Associates to commemorate events since 1972. It is

sponsored by Chrysler Corp. and is scheduled to have a three-year

national tour. In the foreground of the photo above is a portrait of

Jacob Lawrence, one of the artists whose work, ``On the Way,'' is

part of the exhibit.
