William V. Downes, 65, died April 9, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Downes, a native of Capeville, Va., was retired from the automobile business. He was a Methodist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Frances S. Downes; two daughters, Patricia D. and her husband, Anthony Peters of Virginia Beach, Cheryl D. and her husband, Wesley Saher of Virginia Beach; a son, Kenneth V. and his wife, Cynthia Downes of Timonium, Md.; a brother, E.C. Downes Jr. of Cheriton, Va.; and two grandchildren, Cassandra Peters and Amanda Peters, both of Virginia Beach.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Burial will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
