Busch Grand National racer Hermie Sadler and country singer Don Cox will join forces this weekend to raise money for the local Drug Abuse Resistance and Education program.
Cox, a Belhaven native known for ``All Over Town,'' ``In My Father's Eyes'' and ``Honey Don't Pay the Ransom,'' will perform twice this weekend on the Outer Banks. He'll sing at Cape Hatteras School at 8 p.m. Friday night, and at Manteo Middle School at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. A portion of the proceeds will benefit DARE's elementary school program.
Sadler, who lives in Emporia, Va., cut his racing teeth at Dowdy's, an Outer Banks go-cart track. From that beginning, Sadler was hooked on racing. Last season, he finished 13th in the Busch Grand National Points standings. He had six Top-10 finishes.
In 1994, he finished fifth in the Busch Grand National points chase. One of the nation's youngest auto dealers, the 27-year-old is president of Sadler Auto Center in South Hill, Va.
Sadler and Cox are longtime friends, and agreed to travel together in an effort to promote Sadler's race team and Cox's album, and benefit local charities.
Tickets for each concert will be available at the door. MEMO: CONCERT SCHEDULE
