BERNARD DODSON SR.

Bernard Dodson Sr., of the 5000 block of Riverfront Drive, died April 9, 1996, in his residence.

He was a retired aircraft mechanic for the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Dodson was a native of Portsmouth and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, and then worked for McDonnell-Douglas in Saudi Arabia before relocating to Chesapeake and then to Suffolk for retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Dodson; two sons, Capt. Bernard Dodson Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Michael Dodson of Hampton, Va.; his mother, Victoria Dodson; his father, Walter Dodson; two sisters, Victoria Dodson and Pia Williams; six brothers, Walter Dodson, Daryl Dodson, Malcolm Dodson, Jaroy Dodson, Dwight Dodson, and Antoine Dodson; a granddaughter, Natalie Marie Dodson; and two daughters-in-law, Virginia Dodson and Gretchen Dodson.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Bernard Branch in Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
