Willie C. Jones Sr., 77, of the 1400 block of Wilcox Avenue, died April 7, 1996, in Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth.
Mr. Jones was a Weapons Expert II at the Norfolk Naval Air Station and was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed at Tuskegee.
Born in Norfolk County, he was the widower of Marjorie E. Jones. He was a member of First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth, Portsmouth, and a former choir member.
He was survived by four daughters, Brenda J. Johnson of Portsmouth, Irma I. Torney of St. Paul, Minn., Darlene M. Jones of Washington, D.C., and Evelyn J. Pearson of Hampton; three sons, Carlton L. Jones Sr., Willie C. Jones Jr. and Calvin L. Jones Sr., all of Portsmouth; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anna Louise Jones; four nieces and a nephew and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be noon Saturday by the Rev. Warren E. Amlet of First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, with military honors. A viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
