The guided-missile frigate Kauffman was overhauled at Norshipco,

not at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. A Military News brief

Wednesday had an error.

Former Rep. Dan Rostenkowski of Illinois, who pleaded guilty to

two counts of mail fraud, was ordered to pay $100,000 in fines and

restitution. A caption Wednesday had a wrong amount for the fine.

Data compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics show

the number of gunfire deaths among Americans below age 20 increased

7 percent in 1993, to 5,751, from 5,379 in 1992. Those figures were

reversed in a story Tuesday.

Mark S. Doss, who sings bass, was wrongly described as a

``bassist'' in a MetroNews headline Tuesday with a concert review.
