Norfolk public schools will take an active part in the 43rd International Azalea Festival. At 7 p.m. Monday, teams of students from the five public high schools and Norfolk Collegiate will participate in a Student Forum on NATO at Virginia Wesleyan College. For several months, the student teams have been guided by Supreme Allied Command Atlantic (SACLANT) staff officers in preparation for their presentations. Also at the event, winners of the high school NATO essay contest will receive awards.
From 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Azalea Queen will visit Calcott Elementary School, 137 Westmont Ave.
Student performances will be given at the NATO Fest, April 20, and at the coronation of the Azalea Queen. Norfolk middle school students will display their Azalea Festival art posters at Waterside April 15-20.
Dutch craftsmen and dancers will visit some of the schools to introduce students to Dutch culture. Call Gloria Hagans, 441-2616, for more information. by CNB
