Rufus Clinton Lilley Sr., 101, of the 2800 block of Tyre Neck Road, died April 11, 1996, in his residence.
He was a retired farmer and had also worked for Ford Motor Co. He was the widower of Minnie Green Lilley and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He had been a resident of Churchland since 1919 and was a native of Gates County, N.C.
He is survived by a daughter, Eloise L. Holland of Chesapeake; four sons, Ralph D. Lilley of Chula Vista, Calif., James P. Lilley of Chesapeake, Chester M. Lilley of Suffolk, and Rufus C. Lilley Jr. of Springfield, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Donald Seely and the Rev. Phillip Parker in Loving Funeral Home Chapel, Churchland. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
