Virginia Duke Haines, 71, died April 11, 1996, in Charleston, S.C.
She was a native of Norfolk and was the widow of Howard E. Haines. She was a member of Agape Ministries.
She is survived by two daughters, Bethol Phillips and Faye Abend, both of Charleston, S.C.; three sons, Winford Earl McClain of San Diego, Calif., Gary R. McClain and Guy A. Taft, both of Chesapeake; sister, Fannie Carpenter of Chesapeake; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Pete Taylor in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. and at her granddaughter's, JoAnn Piland, 5649 Carisbrooke Lane, Portsmouth, at all other times.
