Melodie Appenzeller Leith, 93, of the Belvedere section of Norfolk died April 12, 1996, in a local hospital.
She was born in Portsmouth and was a self-employed antique dealer and a Presbyterian. She was the daughter of the late George H. and Melodie Wood Pettijohn of Portsmouth.
She was the beloved wife of Roy S. Leith. She is also survived by a daughter, Melodie Phipps of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Melodie Phipps-Martin of Great Falls, Mont.; two grandsons, Russell A. Phipps of Falls Church and W. Craig Phipps of Hilton Head, S.C.; two great-grandsons and three stepdaughters, Sylvia Hampe of Las Vegas, Nev., Bettie Werner of Lexington Park, Md., and Virginia Evangelista of Roslyn, Penn.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.
