Regarding ``English only?'' (letter, April 6): As an immigrant, I had to learn English in order to live and thrive in a country where English is the spoken language.
Many times people who come here from other countries don't speak or understand English because they don't want to learn. I think people should make every effort to learn the language of their adopted country. That does not mean that in their everyday lives they cannot speak their own language.
