Charles James Smyth Jr., 36, of Route 4, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Smyth was born in Norfolk. A former medical data processor, he was a Baptist.
Surviving are two sons, Charles J. Smyth III and Jeremy F. Smyth, both of Virginia Beach; his mother and stepfather, Doris L. and Bernard Lee Poff of Hertford; his father and stepmother, Charles J. Sr. and Joyce E. Smyth of Corapeake; one sister, Debbie S. Equils of Roper; one brother, Jerry L. Smyth of Tyner; and his paternal grandmother, Frances Davenport of Corapeake.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the family cemetery by the Rev. Thomas Nee. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and following the service at the home of his father, Union Branch Road, Corapeake.
