ELSIE CORKEY

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend, Elsie Corkey, 74, left for a more peaceful place April 14, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 14, 1921, in Warwick, N.Y., she lived for over 60 years in Pine Bush, N.Y. A seamstress for most of her life, there are few that haven't had Elsie fix a pair of pants or hem a skirt. In 1993, she made her home in Norfolk and most recently, Lafayette Villa Health Care to be closer to family.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Skwarlo and husband, David; three grandsons, David Jr., William and Michael, all of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Jane Dohrmann and her husband, Bill and grandson, Justin, all of Norfolk. Mrs. Corkey is also survived by two stepsons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Corkey of Thompson Ridge, N.Y., and LeRoy Corkey of Texas. Grandchildren include Steven of Tennessee, Kenneth of Pine Bush, N.Y., and Carolyn of Spring Valley, N.Y.; also LeRoy Jr., David and Raymond Corkey, all of New York state; several nieces, nephews in New York state and many loving friends both in Virginia and New York. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Eli D. Corkey in 1977.

Mrs. Corkey was a member of the Norfolk Senior Center in Norfolk and Pine Bush United Methodist Church in Pine Bush, N.Y.

Contributions can be made to the Town of Crawford Public Library, Mapel Avenue, Pine Bush, N.Y. 12566.

The body will be sent from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel to the DeWitt Funeral Home, Pine Bush, N.Y., for services and burial.
