Alvin Ray White, 64, died April 14, 1996, at a local hospital.
Mr. White, formerly employed with Norfolk and Western Railroad as a brakeman, was business manager for Labor Union (NU)307 Local. He was retired from NIT as a fumigator. He was a native of Maplewood, W.Va., and a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Anne White; six daughters, Deborah A. Waters and M. Kathy Meade, both of Chesapeake, Patricia R. Bozman, Theresa L. Sullivan and Sharon M. Lewis, all of Norfolk, and Donna G. Higgins of Virginia Beach; two sons, Robert A. White of Richmond and Kenneth W. White of Portsmouth; his mother, Grace M. White of Chesapeake; two sisters, Janice H. Cannella of Norfolk and Janet Lamm of Orlando, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Christ The King Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
