MARGARET C. WALKER

Margaret Cropper Walker died Sunday, April 14, 1996, in the Hermitage, Onancock. She was 99years old.

Born in Locustville, Va., in 1897, she was the only child of the late John Tankard Cropper and Gertrude Bloxsom Cropper. She was predeceased by her husband, Wade H. Walker, who died in 1955; and a son, John Cropper Walker, who died in 1965.

A lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, she attended the Onley Grammar School and Onancock High School where she graduated with honors in 1913. She was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College in the class of 1917. Mrs. Walker was an active member of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden Club of the Eastern Shore, the Eastern Shore Chapter of the Randolph-Macon Woman's College Alumnae, and the Epworth United Methodist Church in Exmore, Va., until her retirement to the Hermitage in 1988.

Survivors include a son, William E. Walker II of Morley's Wharf, Va.; two grandsons, W. Wade Walker of Exmore, and Thomas D.C. Walker of Willis Wharf, Va.; and three great-grandsons.

A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in Belle Haven Cemetery, Belle Haven, Va. The Rev. Tammy Estep will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Alumnae Memorial Scholarship Fund, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, 2500 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, Va. 24503. Arrangements made by the B.D.
