Olive Mae Harris, 78, died April 15, 1996 in Autumn Care of Portsmouth.
Mrs. Harris, a native of Verona, N.C., was a retired sales clerk from W.T. Grant Co., Portsmouth, after 20 years. She was a member of the Portsmouth Assembly of God.
Survivors include two daughters, Mattie Louise Garcia of Las Vegas, Nev., Olive Laverne Garcia of Bakersfield, Calif.; a son, Craig Leon Canady of Hampton; three sisters, Virginia Evelyn Burton of Portsmouth; Annie Mozelle Markington of Wilmington, N.C.; Mary Alease Lewis of Winnabow, N.C.; a brother, William T. Dixon and his wife, Millie Futtrell Dixon of Portsmouth; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George Edward Canady.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Terry Riddle. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Salvation Army.
