Barry Wayne Tant Sr., 37, of the 800 block of Gammon Road, died April 14, 1996, in Norfolk.
Mr. Tant, a truck mechanic, was retired from Tidewater Express. He was a native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and the widower of Bertha Virginia Tant. Always thinking of others, Barry donated his organs so others may live.
Survivors include five children, Wayne, Daniel, Melissa, Shane and Steve; his parents, Thelma Davis and Herbert E. Davis Jr., both of Chesapeake; a sister, Karen Luskin; three stepsisters, Cindy Fairbanks, April Crawford, Valarie Wood; two brothers, Ronnie Tant and Timmy Tant; maternal grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. W.K. White. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jenny Tant and a brother, David Tant.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Rev. Richard Chasse. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Barry's name in care of his family.
