Two suspects have been charged in connection with a string of armed robberies, and other arrests are pending, police said Monday.
Suffolk Police charged Paul F. Moore, 29, of the 2100 block of Partridge Place, Suffolk, in the robberies of two gas stations - the Amoco near Holland April 4 and at the Sentry Mart on Holland Road April 9. He was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of abduction and four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Isle of Wight Sheriff's Department also charged him in connection with a robbery at Wayside Grocery on Benn's Church Boulevard April 6.
Americus M. Jones Jr., 32, of the 1300 block of Marshall Ave., Norfolk, has also been charged in the Suffolk Sentry Mart robbery. He is charged with armed robbery, abduction and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Robbery charges are also pending against the men in Pasquotank County, N.C., police said.
After a citizen's tip, Chesapeake police stopped the men Thursday evening in a car belonging to Moore's father, who had reported unauthorized use of the vehicle. They recovered a gun and some suspected cocaine from the vehicle.
Americus M. Jones Sr., 49, also of the 1300 block of Marshall Ave., Norfolk, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three are being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
