The Cub Scout Powhatan District Pinewood Derby was held recently at Norfolk Collegiate School, with packs from throughout Norfolk participating.
District winners were Jonathan Pidgeon of Pack 101, first place; Brock Johnson of Pack 101, second place; Andrew Meredith of Pack 101, third place.
Tigers winners were Guy Kusar-Fischer of Pack 19, first place; John Rudloff of Pack 350, second place; Nelson Tolbert of Pack 370, third place.
Wolves winners were Brock Johnson of Pack 101, first place; Reese Paulson of Pack 43, second place; Adam Martin of Pack 407, third place.
Bears winners were Andrew Meredith of Pack 101, first place; Randy Miller of Pack 97, second place; Tyler Coyle of Pack 30, third place.
Webelos 1 winners were Jonathan Pidgeon of Pack 101, first place; Lawrence Shipman of Pack 825, second place; Jeff Danson of Pack 30, third place.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Michael C. Wild, whose wife, Leslie, is the daughter of James R. and Patsy A. Boyd of Norfolk, was selected recently as Sailor of the Year aboard the submarine Phoenix.
Coast Guard Seaman Jelito D. Deocampo, son of Anacleto G. and Jesusa D. Deocampo of Norfolk recently graduated from recruit training at Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class James A. Forsyth, whose wife, Eva, is the daughter of Frank and Felisa Ormond of Norfolk, recently reported for duty at Navy Recruiting District, San Diego.

Chumnoeun Moul, a junior at Booker T. Washington High School, and Anne Costa, a senior at Maury High School, participated in the recent Virginia Museum of Fine Arts program in Richmond.
Peggy Powers, an art teacher at Larchmont Elementary School, accompanied them. Their trip to Richmond was sponsored by the Chrysler Museum, a Virginia Museum affiliate. The program, called ``Three Days in March,'' brings high school students from all over Virginia to Richmond for a three-day residency at the museum.
