THE VIRGINIA Museum of Fine Arts has set up a toll-free number for its upcoming Faberge exhibits, which are expected to be highly popular.
Beginning this week, Hampton Roads arts lovers may dial (800) 311-EGGS to reserve tickets for ``Faberge in America'' and ``The Lillian Thomas Pratt Collection of Faberge,'' to be on display at the Richmond museum Aug. 24 through Nov. 3.
Both exhibits will feature lavish items from the workshops of Peter Carl Faberge, turn-of-the-century goldsmith and jeweler to the Russian royal court. The work on display will include 15 imperial Easter eggs and about 400 other century-old objects.
These rare items will be on loan from significant American collections, such as those amassed by Malcolm Forbes and Lillian Thomas Pratt.
Tickets to these shows will be issued for certain days and times, which should help prevent the dense crowds that accompany so many blockbuster shows.
Admission for these shows is $10 for adults, $6 for youths and students, and free for museum members. Group rates are available. A $2 handling fee per ticket will be charged.
The museum is on the Boulevard at Grove Avenue. For other information about the museum, call (804) 367-0844. by CNB
