NELLIE M. SELBY

Nellie Mae Selby, 75, of the 800 block of Geneva Ave., died April 15, 1996, at Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

Mrs. Selby, the widow of Caleb Selby, was a retired employee of G.A. Treakle Elementary School and the Chesapeake City Public School System, where she worked for 25 years. She was a native of Norfolk County, and a member and usher of New Hope Baptist Church, St. Julian Creek, Chesapeake. She was also a member of Busy Bee Senior Citizens and Rhoda Chapter 231, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Andrew C. Selby of Chesapeake; two sisters, Beaulah Babbs of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rosa Gibson of Chesapeake; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday by the Rev. Sidney Foster Jr. at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
