Three police organizations voted Wednesday night to endorse incumbent Harold Heischober for the at-large seat on the City Council and former Councilwoman Reba McClanan for the Princess Anne borough seat.
The Fraternal Order of Police, the police supervisors association, and the Police Benevolent Association voted not to endorse anyone in the mayor's race. Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf, who is being challenged by newcomer Robert Yurina, has not been supportive enough of police salary and staffing issues, said Drew Lankford, spokesman for the police groups.
``He was unknown, and she was missing in action,'' Lankford said. The coalition of police organizations known as ``Code Blue for a safer city'' did not endorse candidates in the uncontested council races or in the School Board races.
