John Alexander Plaskett, 70, of the 7400 block of Oakmont Drive, died April 15, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.
He was a cook/steward for the U.S. Navy until he retired after 23 years of service. Mr. Plaskett was a native of Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the son of Venetia and Clifford M. Plaskett. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Plaskett worked at DePaul Medical Center in the dietary department until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey D. Plaskett, of the home; three daughters, Myra A. Cotton, Rochelle P. Jackson and Alena A. Plaskett; two sons, John A. Plaskett and Gregory A. Plaskett; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Father Walter C. Barrett in Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Burial is in Hampton National Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
