Oliver D. Barco Sr., 62, of the 2800 block of Cedar Road, died April 17, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Barco, the widower of Corine Barco, was a native of Norfolk County. He retired from the Naval Supply Center after 36 years as a material handler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Geneva Riddick of Philadelphia, Janice Barco of Portsmouth, Sheba Barco of Chesapeake; five sons, Oliver Barco Jr. of Chesapeake, Dale Barco of Portsmouth, David Barco of Chesapeake, Clayton Barco of Worms, Germany, Arnold Barco of Norfolk; two sisters, Delia Jones of Chesapeake, Nora Harper of Bridgeton, N.J.; four brothers, James A. Barco of Chesapeake, John Barco Jr. of Washington, D.C., Charles G. Barco of Piscataway, N.J., Leonard Barco of Plainfield, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; a special friend, Al Broadnax of Chesapeake; and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Susie S. Barco and John Barco Sr.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by Ronnie Edmonds at Bethlehem COGIC, Chesapeake. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 2832 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Monday at 12:15 p.m. for the procession to the church. Serenity Funeral Home is in charge.
