Maria E. Gordon, formerly of the 2400 block of Cutherell Street, died April 19, 1996, at Sentara Nursing Center of Portsmouth.
Mrs. Gordon, the widow of Isaac Gordon, was a native of Portsmouth. She was a member of New Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and Mount Hermon Villagers Club.
Survivors include a brother, Charles W. Harrell of Portsmouth; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; and a foster son, Samuel Sessoms of Richmond, Va.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Vernon S. Lee, at New Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Sunday. The family will be at the home of her brother, Charles W. Harrell, 2713 Ash St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral.
