Three teenagers linked to the fire death of a 66-year-old Norfolk man last year have been arrested and charged with murder, police spokesman Larry Hill said.
The arrests bring to four the number of people - all teenagers - charged in the case.
The charred remains of Clarence H. Carter were discovered in a vacant lot in the 800 block of Maltby Ave. on April 26, 1995. A passer-by found the body about 3 a.m. and called police.
Police said Carter had been set on fire, and that the slaying stemmed from a dispute.
A 17-year-old Norfolk youth, of the 1000 block of W. 42nd St., was arrested about a month after the slaying and was charged with murder.
Since then, Hill said, new information led homicide investigators R.G. Ford and D.R. Norrell to three more teens. They were arrested Thursday night.
One was a 17-year-old who already was in police custody. He had no listed address. Also arrested was a 16-year-old from the 800 block of W. 38th St. and a 16-year-old from the 700 block of Maltby Ave.
All are in police custody. Their names were not released because of their ages.
