The winners of the 1996 Irene Leache Literary Contest were announced last Sunday in a ceremony at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk. The top prizes went to Wendy J. Cholbi of Charlottesville for fiction (short story); James McNally of Norfolk for non-fiction (essay, memoir); C.B. Landers of Raleigh, N.C., for traditional verse; Karen Hirsch of Greensboro, N.C., for free verse; and Debbie W. Parvin of Montgomery, Ala., and formerly of Norfolk, for light verse.
