GILBERT D. PRUDEN

Mr. Gilbert Douglas Pruden, 60, of Route 1, died Friday night, April 19, 1996, at Halifax Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.

Mr. Pruden was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and a member of the Seaboard Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Whitehead Pruden; three daughters, Elizabeth P. Barrett and son-in-law, Donald Barrett of Jackson, Rebecca P. Cherry and son-in-law, Ralph Cherry of Jackson, Joann P. Flythe and son-in-law, Keith Flythe of Conway; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Colson of Seaboard and Garnett Bunn of Wilson, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Grey Pruden of Roanoke Rapids; three granddaughters, Kriston Barrett, Stephanie Cherry, and Ashlee Flythe; one grandson, Douglas Cherry. Mr. Pruden was preceded in death by his parents, William Garland Pruden Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Lee Vick Pruden and a brother, William Garland Pruden Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church by the Rev. William Nelson and the Rev. Franklin Stansbury. Burial will follow in the Seaboard Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jackson Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 206, Jackson, N.C. 27845.
