Earl Jones Sr., 48, of the 2400 block of Pitchfork Way, died April 18, 1996.
Mr. Jones was a native of Washington, D.C., and was a Baptist. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was also a world champion in shot put, discus, and javelin in 1995 for the Wheel Chair World Games. He was the director for Track & Field in the Para Olympics.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jones; two daughters, Jannette Maria Jones and Dianna R. Jones, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Kenneth J. Jones and Earl Jones Jr., both of Virginia Beach; three sisters; two brothers; and one granddaughter, Monica Maria Jones of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Pastor Jacob Butler in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is in charge.
