Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases: NORFOLK
On Friday, April 12, at about 4:40 p.m., a man walked into the lobby of the U.S. Post Office at 600 Church St. and pulled out a silver revolver. He demanded money from a clerk.
After being given an undisclosed sum of cash, the man fled on a blue bicycle toward the Downtown Plaza.
The suspect is described as black, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot, 170 pounds, with a dark complexion, long, unkempt hair, mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a blue or black sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.
The NationsBank branch in the 1900 block of Colonial Avenue was robbed April 9 at 11:30 a.m.
A man approached a teller and demanded cash. The teller placed money in a black zippered travel bag and the man fled.
A security camera photographed the robber. He is described as black, 40, 5-foot-7 and about 150 pounds. He had a dark complexion and was wearing a tan jacket, dark glass and a light-colored cloth fishing cap.
Police believe one man is responsible for robberies on March 10 and March 14 near Old Dominion University.
The first occurred in the 4500 block of Powhatan Ave., the second in the 4600 block of Hampton Blvd.
In each case, the robber approached his victims with a small caliber, silver semi-automatic handgun and demanded their money and jewelry.
The suspect is described as black, 21, 6-foot with a slim build. He has a light complexion and mustache. He was wearing a long-sleeved light gray sweater with a hood, dark pants and dark shoes. VIRGINIA BEACH
Gregory Lamont Campbell, 23, who is also known as Pete, is wanted for bank robbery.
Campbell is described as black, 6-foot-1, 220 pounds and has short black hair and a mustache.
Lavonia Lee Mayfield, 21, is wanted for receiving stolen property.
Mayfield is described as black, 5-foot-3, 145 pounds, with long black hair and a gold front tooth.
Willie Zafeiriou, 25, is wanted for stealing three motorcycles.
He is described as white, 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, bald and has a light complexion.
An unidentified man is wanted for several grand larcenies.
He is described as white and appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He has brown hair to his collar and a mustache. PORTSMOUTH
The Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company office in the 1700 block of Airline Blvd. was robbed at about 3:50 p.m. April 4.
The suspect first inquired about insurance. But when an office employee wasn't looking, the suspect pulled out what was described as a butcher's knife and demanded money from a cash drawer.
The suspect then walked out and was last seen going behind the building.
The suspect is described as black, 25 to 35, 5-foot-10 and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a green shirt, green pants and a green hat. SUFFOLK
On April 11, a Motorola portable radio was stolen out of Fire Station No. 2 in the 200 block of Walnut Street.
The suspect entered through a bay door and stole the radio from some firefighting gear hanging in the station. While the radio is very expensive, it is of no use to the average citizen. CHESAPEAKE
Sometime between 4 p.m. March 19 and 12:30 a.m. March 20, a man stole several pieces of jewelry from a home in the 900 block of Baron Court.
The suspect is described as black, 21 to 24, 6-foot and 190 pounds with a medium build.
He has been seen driving a green, two-door, late 1970s model Cadillac or Buick. The vehicle has a white vinyl top.
The suspect has been known to frequent the Lee Hall and Afton Parkway area.
On April 13, the Taco Bell in the 3200 block of Western Branch Blvd. was robbed as the store was opening.
The robber held a gun to an employee's head and demanded money.
The suspect is described as black, 20 to 25, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a long-sleeved, polo shirt with the word ``speed'' across the front. He had a camouflage hat with ear muffs.
This suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
