JAMES E. SPICER

James E. Spicer, 70, of the 900 block of Scenic Blvd., died Sunday, April 21, 1996 in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Spicer was born in Des Moines, Iowa and was the son of the late Clarence and Carol Lamb Spicer. He was retired after 30 years of service as a machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Great Bridge Presbyterian Church. He was Scout Master of Troop 52, Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Spicer; his daughter, Anne S. Souder of Arapahoe, N.C.; his son, Michael E. Spicer of Moyock, N.C.; one brother, Larry Spicer of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Great Bridge Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ralph Herbert. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is handling arrangements. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Building Fund of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
