Chester Maturan Hall Jr., 68, of the 700 block of Skipwith Road, and a native of Virginia, died Monday, April 22, 1996, in a local hospital.
He was a firefighter with Norfolk Fire Department for 33 years and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hall was a president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles (Area 3204), a member of the Firefighters Union Local (NU)68, and the State and National Firefighters Associations.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Zarn Hall; two sons, Chester M. Hall III of Virginia Beach and Thomas J. Alderman of Minnesota; five daughters, Robin Copeland of Orlando, Fla., Debra Burton of Virginia Beach, Paula Guffey of Virginia Beach, Susan Hall of Gloucester, Va., and Rebecca Grindstaff of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Lillie Barco of North Carolina; and nine beloved grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Rosewood Chapel, Kellum Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach.
