Cyrus Vaughn Gray, 77, of the 4400 block of Cambria St., died April 22, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Gray retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a captain after serving 26 years. He was also a retired fire chief from Yorktown, Va. Mr. Gray was a native of Avon, N.C., and a member of Norview Masonic Lodge (NU)113 AF & AM.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Gray; three daughters, Linda Martins of Bejing, China, Janice Bourne of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Wendy Davis of San Diego; three brothers, Willard G. Gray of Avon, Harold J. Gray of Chesapeake, John B. Gray of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Bruce Smith in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
