WILLIAM A. COPELAND

William Albert Copeland, 83, of the 3100 block of Tyre Neck Road, died April 22, 1996, in a local hospital.

He was a retired mechanic who had worked at Virginia Chemical for 33 1/2 years.

He was a member of Churchland Baptist Church and a native of Bertie County, N.C. Mr. Copeland was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edith E. Copeland; a daughter, Florence C. Wynne of Chesapeake; a son, William A. ``Buddy'' Copeland Jr. of Chesapeake; four grandchildren; and a step-grandson.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by Dr. William Lumpkin and the Rev. Fred Lane in Churchland Baptist Church. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Loving Funeral Home and at other times at 3221 Tyre Neck Road, Chesapeake. Donations may be made to Churchland Baptist Church Building Fund.
