Capt. Robert Walter Scott Sr., 68, died Tuesday, April 23, 1996.
A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, he was a member of St. Tammany Lodge (NU)5, A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies, Hampton Elks Club (NU)366, and the Southwark Hunt Club.
Capt. Scott was a graduate of the Augusta Military Academy. He joined the Virginia Pilots Association in 1944, and retired in 1991 after 47 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sally H. Scott; two sons, Capt. Robert W. Scott Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Poquoson, and William L. Scott and his wife, Darlene, of Hampton; four grandchildren, Robert W. Scott III, Jeffrey E. Scott, Christopher L. Scott and Melissa D. Scott. He is also survived by a special nephew, Douglas Lee Scott of Hampton; and a niece, Frances L. Johnson of York County.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Parklawn Memorial Park by the Rev. Jimmy Jackson Jr. The family will receive friends at their home, 4101 Chesapeake Ave., Hampton. R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, is in charge.
