The Virginia Beach city manager's proposed budget calls for a
3.2-cent increase in the tax rate, compared with a 12-cent increase
proposed by the city's School Board. A headline in Wednesday's
MetroNews section erroneously referred to percentages instead of
cents.
A public hearing on the city of Norfolk's proposed budget will be
held May 8, at 7 p.m., at Scope. A story in Wednesday's MetroNews
section had the wrong date.
Pianist Joe Sample will perform Friday at 6 p.m. at the Bait
Shack, Waterside, Norfolk. A record review in some editions of
today's Daily Break lists 8 p.m. The time was changed after the
paper went to press.
David E. Kelley is creator of the television shows ``Picket
Fences'' and ``L.A. Law.'' His name was incomplete in a TV column in
Wednesday's Daily Break.
CLARIFICATION
Former SEAL candidates Dustin A. Turner and Billy Joe Brown Jr.,
accused of murdering a 21-year-old student in Virginia Beach, have
made statements to police admitting to several details surrounding
the crime, including being in the car while Jennifer Lea Evans was
strangled to death and to taking her body to a wooded area in
Newport News. However, neither has confessed to killing Evans, as an
April 13 story suggested.
