Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Harvard Business School Professor and author of such prize-winning books as ``The Change Masters'' and ``When Giants Lear to Dance'' will deliver the keynote speech Tuesday at a national conference titled ``Transforming Local Government.''
More than 500 local elected officials, managers, business and civic leaders will gather in Norfolk for the conference, which runs Saturday through Tuesday at the Norfolk Waterside Convention Center, to share innovative ideas from across the country.
The conference is sponsored by the Innovation Groups, International City and County Management Association, the city of Norfolk, Virginia Institute of Government and Watson Wyatt Worldwide. It will a focus on improving the organizational performance of local government.
Kanter's address, Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Scope, will focus on her latest book, ``World Class: Thriving Locally in a Global Economy,'' in which she discusses how local businesses and communities can use today's global market forces to shape their economic destinies.
