At the Pine Meadows Civic League's April meeting, several members commented on the city's recent proposal to raise property taxes yet again. Many of the assembled appreciate that the city desires to accomplish more for its citizens; however, we concluded that raising taxes to solve fiscal irresponsibility is the wrong answer. I add:
If we, as homeowners on a fixed budget (because we know what our income will be for a given period), must remain within said budget, why should City Manager James Spore and his staff be any different? There is no reason whatsoever that the city should not be required to remain within its budget, period.
