JAMES A. MARTIN

James Andrew Martin, 71, of the 1800 block of Candy Lane, died Thursday, April 25, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Martin, a native of High Point, N.C., retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an electrical engineer in the Design Division. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Roman Martin; a daughter, Missy Martin Lippiatt of Portsmouth; two stepdaughters, Linda R. Phillips of Chesapeake, Debra R. Clem of Mechanicsville, Va.; a stepson, M. Ray Roman of Broxton, N.J.; two sisters, Frances M. Martens of Williamsburg, Va., Peggy M. Wiley of Camas Valley, Ore.; a brother, Edward M. Martin of Port Orchard, Wash.; a grandchild, Kyle Martin Lippiatt; and five step-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Matt Matthews in Simonsdale Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
