Two people, one a Norfolk police investigator, were injured late Wednesday night in a two-car collision in the 7500 block of N. Military Highway, police said.
The accident happened at 11:30 p.m. An unmarked 1994 Oldsmobile police car driven by Herbert L. Fayton, 49, was traveling south. Fayton, of the Vice-Narcotics Squad, had stopped in the left turn lane when a 1996 Honda Accord traveling north struck the Oldsmobile head-on.
The driver of the Accord was identified as Joseph Thomas, 23. Both drivers were treated at a hospital. The vehicles were total losses, police said.
Thomas, of the 900 block of S. Club House Road in Virginia Beach, was charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
