SOFTWARE TO EDUCATE

Regarding ``Educators, parents and students push for more funds'' (Metro-News, April 23): The education of students by the best educators in the best-equipped school structure should be a high priority on Norfolk City Council's budget. Education should not be set aside while City Council opts to build bigger and better playhouses in downtown Norfolk.

Some parents who want their children to get a better education cannot afford private schools. They may have to look to the commercial software, which may under controlled educational scrutiny cover the subjects taught in our 12-year school system.

Educational software in the home computer is not sufficient to replace public education but could be an acceptable method to help parents provide a thorough education for their children.

Commercial software for education should be monitored by the best educators.

Increasing property taxes is not the way to support public education. Most of us can submit ideas for raising revenue for the public schools.
