THE FURTHUR FESTIVAL, featuring Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, late of the Grateful Dead, plays the Virginia Beach Amphitheater June 25 at 4 p.m.
The Dead disbanded after the death last year of guitarist Jerry Garcia. The future of the surviving members was uncertain until Weir and Hart announced earlier this week that they will be headlining the Furthur Festival, which is stopping at 31 amphitheaters this summer.
Weir will be backed by Ratdog; Hart performs with Mystery Box.
Sharing the bill are Los Lobos, whose recent album ``Colossal Head'' has collected rave reviews; Bruce Hornsby, who has toured with the Dead and will be returning to the Amphitheater after performing at its May 15 grand opening, and Hot Tuna.
The juggling Flying Karamazov Brothers are among the variety acts performing between sets.
