EMILY R. DARDEN

Emily Ruth Darden, 86, of 14356 Uzzell Church Road, died Thursday April 25, 1996, in Riverside Convalescent Center, Newport News.

She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a retired secretary. She was the daughter of the late William Edwin and Pearl Pearce Darden. She was the sister of the late Laura D. Godwin, Curtis Lee Darden and Willis E. Darden. Miss Darden was a member of Uzzell's United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.

Survivors include three sisters, Charlotte D. Whitley of Smithfield, Mildred D. Hall and her husband, Cleve, of Smithfield, Alice D. Lawson and her husband, Tom, of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Uzzell's Church Cemetery by the Rev. John R. Jones. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home and suggests contributions may be made to Uzzell's United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Vivian Darden, treasurer, 144 Sykes Court, Smithfield, Va. 23430, or Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431.
